2019 agenda, themes and speakers
The conference team is currently in the early stages of planning the agenda and is hoping to include the following topics/themes etc:
Local authority older driver assessments
Session to be facilitated by Road Safety GB, based on a project born out of discussions at ORUC 2018.
Government Grand Challenge – An ageing society
Harnessing the power of innovation to meet the needs of an ageing society; ensuring people can enjoy (at least) an extra five healthy, independent years of life by 2035.
Sustainable & alternative methods of travel (for older people)
Cycling & e-bikes, mobility scooters, older pedestrians, public transport (safety & accessibility) etc.
Fitness to drive/preparing for life after driving
Guidance to GPs, handling conversations about giving up driving, support for people when they retire from driving etc
An international perspective
What can we learn from how older road users are handled/treated/accommodated in other countries?
We hope to be in a position to publish an outline agenda by early February 2019.
To enable people to make travel arrangements, registration will commence at 8.45am, with the conference commencing at 9.30am. The day will conclude no later than 4.00pm.
