Dr Carol Hawley, Associate Fellow, Warwick Medical School

Dr Carol Hawley has a first degree and PhD in Psychology from the University of Warwick. She is currently Associate Fellow in the Division of Mental Health and Wellbeing at Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick and Honorary Principal Research Fellow at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

She has carried out several research projects into the attitudes of health professionals to advising patients on fitness to drive, and has been involved in assessing the quality of guidelines for medical aspects of fitness to drive. She regularly carries out research on older adults and their fitness to drive, and visual impairment and fitness to drive.

Current and recent research projects include a systematic review of medical guidelines for drivers with traumatic brain injury; a UK survey to investigate the driving choices of older drivers and factors influencing decisions to cease driving; an evaluation of a driver training scheme for older drivers; and an analysis of STATS19 data to examine visual and medical contributory factors to road collisions.
